Miodrag Radonjic had a year to remember. The actor became the favorite of the audience due to the role of the criminal Baća in the film and series “South Wind”, and in late 2020, he became a father. He has recently been a member of the Belgrade Drama Theater, and immediately after the holidays, he will be filming the sequel to the series “My Father’s Killers 5.” In a New Years interview for Kurir, Miodrag talks about the charms of parenthood, holidays, and plans.
What would you highlight in 2020?
– Only three things, and they are related to an event. The first is when I found out he would be a dad, the second when they told me he was a son, and the third when Sava was born (laughs). For me, in 2020, there is no more important event. The virus is still present. People always say that next year will be better, but it won’t be any different for us on January 1st. I hope we can all get back to normal life no later than summer.
How much has Sava’s arrival changed your life?
– My sleeping pattern has changed. I can’t describe that feeling when I first held my baby in my arms, as if I was holding something more valuable in the world.
How does it look like?
– He looks like Mika, but maybe a little more like me.
How did you choose the name?
– We did not name it after an ancestor, nor did we name it after Saint Sava. We like that name, and it has warmth and seriousness.
How do you deal with the weight of popularity?
– I’m happy that I gradually gained popularity. However, with the role of Baća, everything escalated. Some people have followed my work before. I knew what to expect. Fortunately, I have not been around much this year. However, when I was at sea in Istria, I realized how many people follow our actors and films. I could not walk quietly through the center of Porec.
What are your business plans for 2021?
– It’s hard to make plans. The play “Audience” with Nikola Rakočević, directed by Milan Nešković, is ready. I hope we will inform you in Belgrade in mid-January.
The play we are talking about earlier was performed by Vojin Ćetković, Sergej Trifunović, Bora Todorović and Petar Kralj. Do you feel the load?
– For me, it is not a burden, but a motivation. The theater, unlike the cinema, offers you a new expression and you do it all from scratch. I believe that the actual text came into our hands when it was interpreted by such masters.
We are doing an interview at BDP, his new home.
– I came to BDP to do the play “Baal”, directed by a guest from Slovenia, the famous and sought-after Diego de Brea, with Miloš Biković and Nina Janković. Rehearsals were supposed to start in July, but they have already been postponed twice. I would like the show to happen at the end.
When are we going to see the sequel to “South Wind”?
– The movie is ready for theaters. However, we keep it for the good of the audience. I think going to the movies is an experience. The movie can be viewed on the phone. They also go to the movies to socialize, eat popcorn and comment at the end.
How satisfied are you with the role of Baca?
– The movie will be fast, witty and action packed. Baća is experiencing his greatest development in the film. I hope to be witty in all the drama that is happening there, because that will give the audience room to breathe.
What are your new year’s wishes?
– I wouldn’t want to sound like a model. My New Year’s wish is the first health and peace in the world. The crown is a serious warning to humanity and how important some everyday things are to our life, especially freedom, and that you can hug and kiss someone. I want life to return to normal and then for culture to return to where it belongs. She is the biggest victim of the crown.
Are you planning three children, like Baća?
– I wish I had a great family. These things cannot be planned and everything is in God’s hands.
Children’s mischief
We loved to throw firecrackers
How did you look forward to the New Year as a kid?
– We adored firecrackers when we were kids, which is not commendable. We went to the market on December 31 to buy pyrotechnics. We discovered everything that could be done. We are not exaggerating.
