Svetlana Ceca Bojković told Nova.rs that she decided to support the protest by professors and students of the Faculty of Philology “to signal the erosion of education in Serbia and send a message that this is a process that must be stopped.”

“We live in a world where there is a great erosion of education, which is decreasing every day. Some new faculties are appearing according to the principle: in the afternoon you sail in the morning you shine “, recalled Bojković, who with his presence supported the meeting of professors and students of the Faculty of Philology and pointed out that education is one of the pillars of the improvement of society.

He pointed out that “I came to support the entire academic community and the Faculty of Philology to get out of the crisis and fight for the right path.”

“We need to support the healthy tissue that strives to keep our children truly educated. I think there is hope, all it takes is a fight,” said the famous actress.

His daughter Katarina Žutić also attended the protest to send the message that education and culture are the backbone and bloodstream of society.

Iva Draškić, a professor at the Faculty of Philology, pointed out that “the autonomy of the university must be defended not only for the good of the teachers, but also for the good of the students and their future.”

He noted that the education inspectorate did not react to all the “faults and violations of the law of former dean Markovic”, but now decided to react when a new dean should have been elected.

Draskic, however, believes that the competent institutions will react in the right way and does not want to think that the teacher’s requests will not be understood.

The actor Milan Caci Mihajlović, the professors Vladeta Janković, Biljana Stojković and Ognjen Radonjić, the politician Boško Obradović, as well as the representatives of the initiative “Let’s not drown Belgrade” also supported the meeting with their presence.

According to Nova.rs, in the protest a letter was read and opened addressed to the Rector, Senate and Council of the University of Belgrade, in which it is stated that “the academic and general public in Serbia have known about scandals and abuses at the Belgrade Faculty of Philology for several years – extremely messy. financial operations, huge income from a small number of employees, illicit accumulation of key functions and numerous cases of plagiarism ”.
