At the beginning of the conversation, he revealed to us whether the government’s limited mandate serves as an incentive to work.

– The moment you take your oath in the Assembly of Serbia, the period of the greatest responsibility that they have had in their lives for each minister begins: responsibility towards citizens and the future of our children. The reform of the public administration is a process that began in the time of Kori Udovicki, was worked on by Ana Brnabic and Branko Ruzic, and I hope and will do everything in my power so that citizens can feel with their example what a more efficient public administration, adapted to them. your needs and the modern digital age.

What are the biggest problems for local governments in Serbia?

– Financing and adaptation to changes, that is, practical implementation of all reform movements. What we as a ministry can promise is that we will always be at your service, for all questions and help, like a true parental home. It is especially important that the Ministry will remit a large part of the funds to local self-government units through the budgetary fund of the Local Self-Government Program, which amounted to 266 million dinars in 2020 after the reduction of the pandemic, and 460 million dinars. dinars in 2021. The objective of the Ministry is to contribute to the work of local self-governments by increasing the fund for local self-governments, where the state manifests itself in the most visible way as a service to citizens, because it is at that level of government where the citizens provide the most services.

How do you assess the fact that Serbia has a government in which half are women?

– I am very proud to belong to a political party that is embodied in the energy of Aleksandar Vučić and that has respected the contribution of women from day one. The decision for a woman to be prime minister or for women to occupy some of the most responsible ministerial positions is not a mere fulfillment of trends, but a clear indicator for the citizens of Serbia of how much the role and skills of women, and I think that’s one of the reasons for the huge support among voters.

With which of your government colleagues do you spend the most time?

– This is the Government that has been dealing with the biggest problem of the modern age since day one: the corona epidemic, and unfortunately we don’t have time to hang out, but we are focused on solving operational problems.

Did you have a conflict with any of your colleagues in the Government?

– Born.

Who are your role models in politics?

– Politicians who know how to say “no”. Educated, dedicated, visionary, motivating. Leaders who make leaders. Aleksandar Vučić.

What do you consider to be the greatest personal and professional success?

– The greatest personal success – my son and a stable family environment. The greatest professional success, nominally, is the position of minister in the government of the Republika Srpska and vice president of the SNS, and I consider that the most valuable political result of my career was that I motivated and supported many ordinary women, whom I met in my political work in Serbia, and today they are successful and respected politicians, deputies, mayors, district heads and administrations. The energy and the idea that they spread further are indestructible.

The most beautiful and most difficult moment of your career?

– The best moments are the electoral victories, and the most difficult are yet to happen. Although lies and fabrications always hurt me.

You worked for a long time as a journalist, how do you assess the situation in the media today? What do you think of the media whose leaders declared themselves the elite in that business and gave themselves the right to share labels, judge who is the target, regime or not?

– I will always be in defense of the media, independent, responsible and professional journalism. On the other hand, false moralization, politicking and fabrication have no place in journalism, and I think citizens, that is, viewers and readers, can easily notice this. One thing is for sure, there has never been so much freedom in the media in Serbia and at the same time we do not remember so much open insult to name and family, especially from the state president, but also from other politicians.

Some people care that I put in “sixth gear”

The media wrote that you were driving a car with blinders and that you had an incident with the police, how do you comment on these media accusations?

– None of the media called me about that alleged incident, nor do I have official evidence of that alleged incident. As a politician, and more recently as a minister, I have grown used to attacks and baseless lies from the media, but as a former journalist I regret that these media claims have not been verified by professional standards. I think some people resent that I put them in “sixth gear” and I want the result at the end of the term, but that is their problem.
