MILICIC HIT “RAMP” IN WAGES: Seasonal workers outraged by non-payment of wages for work in the famous basketball player’s apple orchard

To date, they have not received an October salary, although the announcement, which invited them to work, emphasized that the payment will be every 15 days. The workers cannot communicate with the boss, who, as they say, only occasionally came to the garden, and for more than a month they have received information from management that the money will arrive “tomorrow”, “next week” or “Friday “.

– In previous seasons, the pay was regular and for the first time it started to be late last year, when some workers received their October and November wages in February and March. Before this year’s harvest, it was announced that the hourly rate was increased from 200 to 250 dinars and the payment was guaranteed to be every two weeks. He also did not arrive in time for August and September, but crossed the line of patience for October, says one of the workers.

He claims that in August, at the start of the harvest, there were around 200 pickers in the orchard, but the number dropped due to betrayed payment terms. Apples from Sivac, Kljajićevo, Čonoplje, Vrbas and Svetozara Miletić picked apples for ten hours a day. Depending on the number of days spent harvesting, 20,000 to 60,000 dinars must be paid individually by October.

– Of that, last month we received about 3,000, and another 5,000 dinars, to “stain our eyes”. We do not have bread or firewood, nor can we buy children’s winter clothing and shoes. They killed us on the notion, because we don’t know when we will get the honestly earned money – says the desperate worker.

Bojan Petrovic, the only one of the seasonalists who introduced himself by name and surname, says that at the end of October he was interested in paying half a month’s salary, and the orchard manager, Tibor Koso, told him that the salary would be “a starting Sunday “. On November 9, he approached the production manager, Jasmina Obrić, from whom he received the reply that Chief Miličić “is a bit in trouble right now, but will sort it out quickly.”

Koso told “Novosti”:

– Russians, who were sold apples, do not pay the low price for clothes. And when the money goes down, every season will pay off.

PETROVIC: BROTHER, PAY ME!

On October 28, BOJAN Petrović complained to Miličić in a message via “Facebook” about unpaid wages, stating that he had nothing to buy to eat a three-year-old boy. As there was no response, on December 4 he again yelled at the Milicic on Facebook: “Brother, pay me, please!”

I WILL NOT BE BECAUSE OF ANYONE

DARKO Miličić, also known for numerous humanitarian actions and as a large donor, confirmed to “Novosti” about the late payments to seasonal workers that he never owed anyone.

– I have never been in debt to anyone, nor have I been nor will I continue to be. I have no reason for that and no justification. If the payment was late, it went up and down for a few days, which is quite acceptable, because that’s the job. If there is a problem, it will be fixed very quickly. (SB)
