Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on the occasion of Victory Day over fascism that “any idea of fascism” should be avoided.

“Remembering the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of others in World War II forces us not to allow any fascist ideas to come to life at this time, which is not easy,” he said in a written statement.

Mihajlovic added that the day of the victory over fascism, exactly 75 years ago, was the brightest in the history of Serbia and of all the peoples of the “ancient common country, who united side by side against the greatest evil of the 20th century. ”

She declared that Serbia, like today, was on the right side, “on the side of freedom and truth, along with the greatest allies, Russia and the United States.”

“The enormous sacrifices that Serbia made in the fight for freedom will never be forgotten, and we owe them eternal gratitude,” said Mihajlović.

According to her, the anti-fascist struggle of Serbs, Croats, Montenegrins, Bosnians, Slovenes, Macedonians and Albanians must not be forgotten and, as she added, today all the countries of the Western Balkans are moving towards full membership of the EU, because “a Europe together is the best barrier. ” by the rise of any new type of fascism. ”

“Freedom, equality and solidarity as basic ideas of the European Union are only the same objectives for which our ancestors and allies fought in World War II. That is why Europe is our common home”, Mihajlović said.
