Mines and Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlović said the Ministry is preparing documents for the Serbian Government, which will reorder “what should have been completed in 2014”: the reform of Srbijagas.
At the celebration of the start of the desulfurization project of the Nikola Tesla Thermal Power Plant (TENT B), Mihajlovic told reporters that he believes that everyone in the Government will understand each other, because it is important to separate the gas transportation and distribution activity, said the Ministry in a statement.
“It is important not for the minister or director of Srbijagas, but for the future of the gas sector in Serbia. All attempts at various conspiracy theories, including the insertion of other countries, show how much resistance there is to reform,” Mihajlovic said .
He said that the reform can bring profit and rapid realization of investments, that “Turkish Stream” must be completed on time, as well as that the construction of the gas pipeline to Bulgaria must begin.
He added that reform is also necessary in the Serbian Electric Power Industry and that EPS and “Srbijagas” are the two companies with the most opportunities and the most critical points, but also resistance.
Speaking about flue gas desulfurization at TENT B, Mihajlović said that there is not enough electricity if Serbia depends only on coal production, and that energy and environmental security are just as important, that if the emission of Harmful gases, TPP can not continue to work.
He added that the annual emissions of sulfur dioxide are 300,000 tons, six times more than what the laws of Serbia and the EU allow.
EPS Director Milorad Grčić said that the level of air pollution will drop from 80,000 tons to 4,500 tons a year at the start of desulfurization.
He added that the value of the projects is 210 million euros, of which 120 million will be carried out thanks to the work of companies in Serbia.
