In recent years, the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army, in parallel with the acquisition and equipping of the army with new weapons and military equipment, are intensively modernizing existing funds in order to use and improve all that the army has. at your disposal to fulfill its basic purpose: to contribute to the preparation of our army. independently defend the sovereignty and independence of his country and his people. Regarding the issue of modernization, significant attention was paid to the aircraft of the Serbian army – MiG-29 and Orao aircraft and the Gazelle HO-45 helicopter. The MiG-29 multipurpose fighter jet is intended for fighter interception actions against enemy aircraft, as well as actions on targets on land and water.
The first modernization phase (upgrade to ICAO standard) has been completed on all MiG-29 aircraft available to the Serbian army. The second phase of the modernization involves, firstly, the refinement of the aircraft’s radar, which improves the aircraft’s ability to act on targets in the airspace and, at the same time, acquires a new aircraft’s ability to act on ground targets with precise guided weapons. In addition, the modernization provides for the improvement of the electronic combat and radio-technical reconnaissance system, the acquisition of air-to-air and air-to-ground guided munitions, and the improvement of flight simulators for training purposes.
The Orao aircraft modernization project is being carried out by the Military Technical Institute in cooperation with the integrator of domestic systems, the company Teleoptik Gyroscopes. Modernization increases the capabilities and efficiency of use of the aircraft through the application of new aircraft electronics (avionics), weapons control system and attack navigation system, new open architecture digital equipment (mission computer, navigation system inertial with the possibility of global positioning INS / GPS, HOTAS system, video data recording system and flight parameters, etc.), then a new optoelectronic system with thermal imaging camera and laser rangefinder and new guided weapons for precise actions on targets in Earth. The effects of modernization are related to achieving more precise navigation, efficient targeting and action when using Orao aircraft day and night, as well as reducing the load on pilots, expanding the range of weapons with modern high-precision ammunition on the market and development nationally, significantly increase self-defense and survivability capabilities in combat operations.
The Gazelle HO-45 helicopter is intended for transport and training. The modernization of this type of helicopter includes efficient construction solutions for the integration of unguided weapons systems (12.7 mm machine gun nacelle and 80 mm seven-barreled rocket launchers), with adaptation of elements of the existing structure of the Gazelle helicopters. HO-45 and installation of removable and removable weapon holders. .
By integrating the aforementioned systems, the Gazelle HO-45 helicopter will have the possibility of use in combat, which will also contribute to the general increase of the operational capabilities of the Air Force. In addition to the opportunity to work on modern aviation equipment, all pilots and pilots received the most modern flight equipment (flight suits, boots, gloves). Their material situation has improved with salary increases, so for the first time since this year, the salaries of military pilots have been equated with the salaries of the Ministry of the Interior pilots. Likewise, better training elements were determined for pilots and technicians, which allowed a faster advance in the service.
