In other words, Serbia has become part of the prestigious Michelin gastronomic guide, and which restaurants in our country received this, the most prestigious culinary award, according to information from Tanjug, will be known in December.

The Michelin star is a kind of culinary “Oscar”, the highest and most valuable recognition in the culinary world that restaurants with a varied offer and service receive.

Restaurants can receive up to three stars for the quality of the food based on five criteria: the quality of the ingredients used, the mastery of taste and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in his kitchen, the price-offer ratio and consistency of quality, confirmed by Michelin inspectors.

Michelin inspectors visit restaurants around the world anonymously and rate only the quality of the food they serve, based on these five criteria.

The stars do not depend on the interior, the decoration of the table or the quality of the restaurant’s service; It is rated separately, with a rating of 1 to 5.

All star winners are in the Michelin Guide, which recommends these restaurants, in more than 30 countries on three continents. So far, more than 30 million publications have been sold.

Of the surrounding countries, only Croatia and Slovenia were in the Michelin guide: Croatia with seven star restaurants and Slovenia with two.

The Michelin stars were started by the brothers Andre and Eduard Michelin, whose surname is also carried by the world’s most famous pre-tires.

To motivate people to travel and thus increase the sales of cars and their tires, the Michelin brothers created a small guide in 1900 with useful information for travelers, such as maps, a list of auto repair shops, service stations and a list of places to eat. or find accommodation.

Among other things, the guide had anonymous ratings of European restaurants and, starting in 1926, began to award famous stars.

The people who evaluate food, Michelin inspectors, are permanently employed by the Michelin group and most of them studied at the best restaurant schools in the world.
