The metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana Porfirije stated that “individuals” in the case of the professor of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology Rodoljub Kubat, who was fired, “saw the basis and the possibility of elimination” of that faculty from the academic community, stating that the procedure towards Kubat “cannot be disputed legality, not democracy.”

“The Holy Synod of Bishops has the legitimate right to grant and revoke approval for teaching service in the highest theological institution, which originated in the misfortune of the Serbian Orthodox Church and which, as a co-founder and full member from the University of Belgrade, also participates fully in this institution, “said the Metropolitan. Porphyry for the Politika newspaper.

The Metropolitan of Porfirio, who is also president of the PBF Council, said that the Synod’s decision “was not taken without foundation.”

“According to the conclusion of this body, it was preceded by long-term anti-church and anti-faculty activities of Dr. Kubat, which caused irreparable damage to the most important institutions and the reputation of the Serbian Orthodox Church through social media , print and electronic media, “said Metropolitan Porfije. .

He expressed his amazement “that someone thinks that it is even possible that the Church will leave the education of its own youth, future priests, bishops, religious teachers and the theological-Christian elite in general to someone else.”

The Rector’s Collegium of Bograd University previously announced, following Kubat’s dismissal, that “the decision handed over to Kubat by the dean of PBF, prohibiting him from teaching at that faculty, is not in accordance with the regulations.”

After this announcement, Kubat affirmed that things are going in a very bad sense, if even after the announcement of the Board of Rectors of the PBF, “they persist in their intention to dismiss him.”

“I do not know if our patriarch is sure that it is prudent for him to leave the University practically voluntarily during his mandate,” said Kubat, who assures that his dismissal covers “much more serious problems in the Church and in that faculty.” spoke publicly.
