The Serbian Orthodox Church has released an unprecedented photo of Irinej with her mother Milijan.

His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch, Mr. Irinej (Gavrilović), was born in the village of Vidova, near Čačak, in 1930, to father Zdravko and mother Milijana.

At his baptism, he was named Miroslav. He finished primary school in his hometown and then secondary school in Čačak. After graduating from high school, he enrolled and graduated from Prizren Seminary and then from Belgrade Faculty of Theology. After graduating from college, he joined the military.

Upon his return from the army, he was soon appointed deputy (professor) of the Prizren seminary. Before assuming the post of professor in October 1959, at the Rakovica monastery, by His Holiness the German Patriarch, he received the monastic rank, receiving the monastic name of Irinej.

The body of Blessed Serbian Patriarch Irinej will be displayed in the Cathedral of the Holy Archangel Michael in Belgrade during the Holy Liturgy on the feast day of the Cathedral, November 21, 2020, and then transferred to the Church of Saint Sava in Vracar, where the believers will have the opportunity to say goodbye. with the blessed Patriarch.

The Holy Liturgy will be served on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the Church of Saint Sava in Vracar, starting at 9 am. In the continuation of the Holy Liturgy, a mass will be served and the body of the Patriarch will be buried in the crypt of the temple of Saint Sava.
