The epidemiologist Predrag Kon affirmed that the use of protective masks currently replaces the state of emergency and the curfew, and emphasized that “the inconvenience of wearing masks is a thousand times less than the inconvenience of the disease.”
– It is clear that we have an epidemiological situation that is getting worse. This deterioration is especially visible in Belgrade, which is slowly turning into an unfavorable situation when it comes to Belgrade. When we compare it with a period that lasted a month, it is clear that there has been a serious deterioration – Kon told RTS.
– The discomfort from the use of masks is a thousand times less than the discomfort of the disease. Not to mention that we are more afraid of punishment than death – Kon pointed out.
He noted that this time in Serbia, there will be no emergency response.
“The protective mask is currently replacing the state of emergency and curfew,” Kon said.
Kon stated that a system has been created in schools that is not expected to be excluded and that it has its own supervision and monitoring units.
– Masks are known to be worn all the time, except when sitting on a bench. We have it under control. There is no reason to think about dropping out of school, which does not mean that we will not monitor the situation – Kon said.
Commenting on the situation in the region where the epidemic is emerging, Kon said that many of those countries did not have another wave, such as Serbia.
– This is mainly the second wave for them. The truth is that in the implementation of the measures, I do not believe that we are somewhat above the neighboring countries, regardless of the fact that we only managed to suppress the second wave with the measures. However, we have a situation that clearly indicates what can happen to us – warns Kon.
