Speaking to Serbian Radio Television (RTS), Loncar announced that for this reason, Serbia will request additional quantities of the vaccine in addition to the 1.8 million doses that, according to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, have already been ordered. .

“Who made a good assessment that this vaccine will get permits in Europe and the United States?” The EU is already asking for 800 million doses today and used to want another vaccine. I spoke with Pfizer today and asked for additional amounts because we were among the first to sign a contract with them, “Loncar said.

He assessed that obtaining an effective vaccine is “light at the end of the tunnel” in the fight against the corona virus epidemic.

“All other vaccines that are effective and safe are welcome,” said the minister.

Again he appealed to citizens to respect epidemiological measures and, as he said, “temporarily give up some merchandise they are used to.”

“If the problem is to give up a party for a couple of weeks, a birthday … What is it in relation to a lifetime?” Asked the minister.

He also warned that a day of intensive care costs around 1,200 euros because the doctor’s follow-up lasts 24 hours.

“It is on the condition that the patient is not on a respirator, not to mention the medications that are given,” said the minister.

He added that the reform of the Law of Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases, according to which communal militiamen and municipal communal inspectors may impose fines on the spot for not wearing a mask or disrespecting physical distance outdoors or indoors. , may be published tomorrow in the Official Gazette. Messenger to take effect as soon as possible.

The minister also said that 814 medical workers were infected with the corona virus, of which 47 were in hospital.

Health Minister Zlatibor Lončar stated that a decision on stricter epidemiological measures has not yet been taken and will be taken in 24 to 48 hours, noting that the situation in Belgrade is too serious.

“If at some point you cannot take care of patients, those who are from Belgrade in Belgrade, but have to go to a hospital in the interior, then we say that we are at a limit. This does not apply to other hospitals and centers in Serbia, but if we continue to behave as before, it does not mean that it will not apply to other hospitals as well, “Loncar told RTS.

He said that they had to open the Occupational Medicine in Belgrade, that the rheumatology will start working tomorrow at 7pm, as well as that the capacities in Banja Koviljača and Sokobanja are being prepared.

“Most of the other countries, when they get into this situation, when there is no room, they let the patients go home, but then you have no control over them,” Loncar said, saying that there is no room in the Belgrade Arena. .

“We have free places in the temporary hospital in Nis and Kragujevac. We will use their capacities,” Lončar said.

On the occasion of the adoption of the amendments to the Law for the Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases, Lončar explained that we have a law, but that the problem lies in the implementation.

“What was approved in the Assembly by a large majority is to enable the implementation of the law,” Loncar said, adding that it was important to prevent abuses of the regulations.

“It goes according to the fastest procedure, I think it will be published in the Official Gazette tomorrow,” Loncar said.
