The Minister of Commerce, Tourism and Telecommunications, Rasim Ljajic, said today that on the first day, around 3,000 citizens applied for holiday coupons in Serbia, so there is no doubt that the 400,000 coupons will be distributed in a short time, noting that the holidays abroad will be more expensive. due to the corona virus test.
As before, pensioners, the unemployed, and employees with incomes of up to 70,000 dinars can apply for coupons, and the new category is students as well as farm owners, Ljajic said of Dan Live on H1.
Ljajic emphasized that losses in the tourism sector are estimated to be around 300 million euros by June 1. In the first two months, we had an incredibly good tourist season and 195 million euros in currency inflows, which was 16 percent more than in January and February last year, Ljajic said.
When it comes to the whole year, Ljajic points out that the estimates are that the losses will be around one billion euros, only based on the entry of foreign currency, because the arrival of tourists in large quantities cannot be expected.
Ljajic also mentioned that countries’ protocols on protective measures against the coronavirus are expected, which includes tests, adding that for those who decide to go abroad, summer vacations will be more expensive due to mandatory tests in both directions.
The big unknowns are what awaits passengers if they decide to fly abroad. It is their business, no one will hinder them in that, but we have to see what other countries will do, if there will be a single EU protocol or if each country will establish its own rules, Ljajic said.
We are waiting for those protocols, but it is quite certain that proof will be needed when you return to Serbia on vacation, Ljajic said.
Ljajic added that they are in constant contact with producers and retail chains, and none of them expressed fear that the price of food could increase, except for products that are seasonal.
