The Appeals Chamber of the Mechanism, chaired by President Carmel Adjius, rejected this extraordinary legal recourse by Lukić and upheld the previous final verdict, whereby he is serving his sentence in prison in Estonia.

As announced tonight, the Mechanism also rejected Lukić’s request that a lawyer be appointed to whom the Mechanism would pay, in order to gather evidence on new facts on which to base the request for review of the verdict and reduction of the sentence o absolution.

Lukić requested a review based on the verdict of the Bosnia and Herzegovina court in the Šušnar case.

He was convicted of killing 53 civilians in Visegrad in 1992 on Pionirska Street.

Lukić also requested a review of his procedure a few years ago, but it was also rejected.
