BELGRADE – Rasim Ljajic’s Sandzak Democratic Party (SDP) today sent a protest note in the form of a statement due to, as they say, the apprehension of city administration officials, who say they did their job in a manner honest and fair, reports the portal Nova.rs.
“The SDP supports the fight against corruption, we have been fighting against it since we exist, but not selectively, not in this way that innocent people are lied to and arrested as criminals. Especially not that someone uses us as an element in the artificial symmetry of the distribution of blame, “he wrote. SDP statement.
In that party they demand that their fellow party members be allowed to defend themselves against their freedom, “because they are familiar, honest and responsible people who have never been in conflict with the law.”
“The SDP has been in power in Novi Pazar for more than a decade and during that time there have been no scandals or abuses of power. On the contrary, we have focused our work on the development of our city, its construction and prosperity,” it reads in the notice.
It is added that the fact that, as a municipal administration, “they are in second place in terms of transparency in Serbia, that they are the winners of numerous recognitions and awards for their work” speaks in favor of this.
Novi Pazar police arrested the Deputy Mayor of the city of Novi Pazar, E.Š. (1981), head of the public company “Instituto de Urbanismo” S.Lj. (1976), the head of JKP “Gradska čistoća” EO (1962) and eight other persons due to the existence of grounds to suspect that they committed the crimes of influence peddling, abuse of official position and abuse in connection with public procurement.
An employee of the Municipal Administration of the City of Novi Pazar MD (1968), employees of the Cultural Center of that city AI (1978), as well as owners of five companies were also arrested.
The suspects are accused of abuses and machinations in the public procurement procedure.
