BELGRADE – The High Court of Belgrade issued a decision determining that the legal conditions for the extradition of Bulgarian businessman Tsvetan Vasilev to the judicial authorities of that country, who are processing proceedings against him for embezzlement, have been met, it was announced today.

It is alleged that the non-procedural criminal chamber of the High Court made a decision on September 29, based on the extradition request of the Bulgarian Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“An appeal against said decision is allowed to the Belgrade Court of Appeal within three days from the date of receipt of the written copy of the decision,” the High Court statement said.

The court recalled that the final decision on extradition is made by the Ministry of Justice in accordance with the provisions of article 31 of the Law on International Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters.

Vasilev bought the Serbian glass factory in Paracin in 2012 and, according to media reports, he moved to Serbia in 2014, just ten days before Sofia issued an international arrest warrant against him for embezzlement of 1.3 billion euros, which endangered stability. Bulgarian banking system.
