The candidate for the presidency of the Democratic Party, Branislav Lecic, estimated that direct elections in that party will be a “point of conflict” between the two currents, noting that – if he wins those elections – he will lend a hand to all the democrats to defeat the absolutism in Serbia.
After voting in the party’s elections, Lecic told reporters that the elections were a democratic process involving 4,500 members, who paid the membership fee.
“If the team that I lead is voted by a majority, it means that a three-point policy has been chosen for Serbia: the European Union, civil society and the rule of law and equal opportunities for all, which I will implement consistently”, Lecic emphasized.
Lecic is the only candidate for the party’s presidency in the elections that are not recognized by the president of the Democrats, Zoran Lutovac.
Participation ends all dilemmas related to SD and it is a democratic process. If we don’t believe in that, then we are not Democrats, he noted.
Lecic evaluated that absolutism is persecuted by democracy, and elections are a legal process, verifiable before all courts, institutions, national or foreign.
“Neither (Zoran) Lutovac nor I decide here, but the members of the DS,” he said, repeating the call to all Democrats to stand together and form a strong DS to defeat absolutism in Serbia.
“Unfortunately, my hand extended towards Lutovac, and not only mine, but also Vidin (Ognjenović), (Dragoslav) Šumarac and others, was sent to DS, but there is no response. There are only evictions, criminal charges, rigidity that it is not democratic. ” Lecic said.
He announced that, if he is elected leader of the DS, the party will be included in all conversations with MEPs, because any contact with Europe is necessary and necessary, but also with opposition parties ideologically close to it, social democratic orientations.
Lecic reiterated that the party’s voters make the decision, then an electoral assembly will be organized that will verify the elections and form party organs, and then it will be registered in the party’s register, that is, it will confirm the changes in the DS.
