The newly opened Kovid hospital in Belgrade’s Batajnica neighborhood received the first patients tonight, and the director of that institution, Dr. Tatjana Adžić Vukićević, said they were patients with bilateral pneumonia and respiratory failure.
He told Serbian Radio Television (RTS) that during the evening from the Infectious Diseases Clinic, which was still a reception and triage center, it was announced that about twenty more patients would arrive and that all needed some kind of “respiratory support.” .
The director of the new kovid hospital called for people not to come to the hospital on their own, without prior examination and consultation in kovid ambulances.
“I understand people, they are scared and tired, it is difficult for them to wait in lines in kovid ambulances. But I call on everyone to be a little more patient and calm down and keep going through the reception and triage centers and clinics of covid where our colleagues will evaluate if they are for home treatment or they will refer them to us, “said Dr. Tatjana Adzic Vukicevic.
“We cannot lie to people that we don’t have a place, we have a place,” he told RTS, suggesting that citizens turn to reception and sorting centers “so as not to create too much crowd and too much chaos in Belgrade.”
