Epidemiologist Predrag Kon, a member of the crisis staff, said tonight that talks on easing the measures are unrealistic at the moment, but that they could talk about it next week, saying that fear of vaccines is not rational because they are “safe and secure.”
“In a situation with such numbers, it is not realistic to talk about it. “I hope it will be possible next week,” Kon told Serbian Radio and Television Dnevnik, commenting on the accusations of Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, who hopes the measures will be relaxed next week.
Speaking about the vaccination process, Kon said that, in parallel with measures to prevent contacts, immunization should be accelerated, estimating that the number of immune people in Serbia, who have passed two weeks since the second dose, is more than 600,000.
Kon emphasized that this fact stands out because it explains why there was infection after the first dose, and sometimes even after the second, estimating that it will continue there, but in a small percentage, but that the effect of vaccination will surely be seen. .
He suggested that you should not talk to people who are completely against vaccination because they are convinced of what they are saying, but, in his opinion, there are “one or two percent” of them.
At the same time, Kon pointed out the large number of undecided and intimidated and said that fear must be rationalized and explained that fear of disease is one thing and the vaccine is another.
The fear of the vaccine is not rational, because the vaccine is safe, efficient and effective, Kon emphasized in the RTS newspaper.
