The epidemiologist Predrag Kon evaluated for RTS that the epidemiological situation has stabilized, but also warned that the measures are not respected at all in a part of Serbia.

Currently, the epidemiological situation has stabilized at a low level, and that is not bad in principle. However, Predrag Kon warns that in the last two days in Belgrade, there is a clear increase in the registration of those who present themselves in the ambulance RTS emissions.

He adds that what is a happy circumstance is that there is no covid, but that it indicates that acute respiratory infections are slowly starting to increase and that we will definitely have them in the next period. That, he says, will make the work of the health service in general more difficult, because that differentiation will be more difficult.

“Precisely for this reason, I constantly insist that the situation is uncertain and that we must constantly take care not to spoil it so that it does not get worse,” emphasizes Kon.

Explain that at this time, we should not connect the jump with the start of school, because literally everything was done so that there would be no transmission.

Great illusion and great deception

“It is certain that it will be presented, as it has already happened. What is important to highlight are the secondary schools, where there are children from 15 to 19 years old, and that must be said. I say this for the first time, which is the age at which you get sick more often, completely the opposite of understanding, because if you take only those five years and you look at the frequency at that age, then that’s the time when you get sick quite often, ” said the epidemiologist.

He adds that on the other hand, there is the fact that they are the least serious cases, so it is an illusion that it is an easy disease.

“Great illusion and great deception. In addition, it is this generation that can transmit the infection to others. And for that reason, a special review of the risk that this age poses is school,” warns Kon.

Also, as he said, there are student dormitories, which are now diluted by the fact that classes are divided online for a week, so no, so the dormitories are emptied that way, but those dormitories are also places of risk of virus transmission. Kon also said that schools should not be closed at all, unless the disease is exacerbated outside of school when there is practically a risk of entry and impossible control, and this is emphasized by the only situation where schools would have to get online.

“That means that each group is a unit in which the situation will be monitored. When a patient appears, nothing special happens, except that the whole group is under epidemiological surveillance, which means daily monitoring for two weeks. And if they appear In two related cases, the whole group immediately goes to online classes, so they are in self-isolation for two weeks. That is what we call the elastic system, “explained the epidemiologist.

Should we be afraid of October?

“Now we have a situation in which in a large part of Serbia the measures are not respected at all, I am not going to call anyone, they are people on vacation, they do not wear masks, a large number are in certain areas, it is something that I do not know. can leave without consequence, “he says,

In the second place, he adds, we have the return of our citizens that is going to happen, everything that could have been done to prevent the transfer has been done there, however, as he says, that is also something that is going to happen to us. On the other hand, we are entering a period of respiratory infections, which usually begin in schools, but in this situation it is very possible, as the epidemiologist estimates, to start from labor groups.

“It doesn’t have to be kovid, but it can be ordinary sneezing, because it’s time for that,” Kon warned.

He emphasized that public transportation is completely inadmissible places without masks and that those who do not wear masks in public transportation should not be viewed favorably.
