Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said today that a deceleration of the corona virus is being noticed, especially in Belgrade, noting that in two or three days it will be seen if the curve will flatten completely.

The slowdown came thanks to measures already in place, he said.

Kon, as a guest on the RTS morning show, also said that it would be known in about two weeks if this trend would continue.

“At the moment, the presence of the virus is huge,” Cohn said, adding that there are many more infected than officially confirmed and that the number of infected people can be multiplied by 10 to get a roughly exact number.

“If we find 6,000, that day is 60,000. It is a dynamic thing, because after a week, eight, nine days, it no longer excretes the virus, and after 14 days, it certainly does not excrete the virus,” he said.

Kon said that the virus is at its peak as far as Belgrade is concerned and that it must now endure by adhering to the measures, as well as hoping that the measures that will be introduced from tomorrow will yield results.

He noted that the medical part of the Crisis Staff to suppress the spread of the coronavirus demanded stricter measures and its urgent introduction, such as closing the facilities at 6 in the afternoon and wearing outdoor masks, but that was not accepted.

Kon believes that there must have been an infection at the funeral of Patriarch Irinej, because during the television broadcasts it was seen that not everyone was wearing masks and that the measures were not respected. He said it would be seen in about a week.

“I had the opportunity to see that many, especially at the top of the state, were wearing masks and that was taken into account. But there were undoubtedly mistakes, “he said.

The percentage of infection within schools is low, Kon added, stating that schools are safe places for students and those who were infected mostly carried the virus outside of educational institutions.
