Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Boris Milosevic, a member of the Serbian National Council, also participated in this year’s “remembrance column” in Vukovar.

Unfortunately, after almost 30 years, Boris Milosevic is the only political representative of the Serbs who participates in the column of remembrance of the brutal aggression of the JNA, which ended with the massacre of Vukovar citizens on the Ovcara estate.

There is still no sincere apology from Serbia, that is, recognition of the crime committed in the neighboring country.

On the contrary, convicted of war crimes in Ovčara, the commanders whose units committed crimes against civilians and patients of the Vukovar Hospital, are today the heroes of the Vučić regime, parading every day through the shameful chat rooms of the televisions of the regime.

He identifies all of Serbia with such poisoning of public opinion as a crime whose scale exceeds our region.

It is clear that the protagonists of the war politics of the 1990s, the representatives of the party of Milosevic and Seselj, who are in power today, want to equate the whole of Serbia with themselves and with their monstrous criminal policy.

Denying, denying, or even celebrating crimes and convicted offenders inevitably leads to repeat crime.

The Civic Democratic Forum (GDF) is resolutely on the side of confronting crimes committed on behalf of Serbia and the Serbian people to remove the collective stigma, because there are no criminal peoples, but only criminal ideologies and policies.

Judging by the attitude towards the crimes committed during the wars of the 1990s, the fear is justified that Vučić and his renowned radicals have not changed substantially or are willing to abandon their nationalist policy that causes new instabilities and disasters in the region. .

Furthermore, GDF welcomes the sincere act of regret that Vučić’s envoy Veran Matić displayed in Vukovar.

But I remind you that kneeling must be the culmination of a policy of truly confronting one’s atrocities.

And that is not the case here.

While Veselin Sljivancanin is celebrated and promoted at home as an SNS official, rehabilitating the ideology and politics that led to the Vukovar tragedy, at the same time Veran Matic kneels in front of the monument to the victims as the envoy of the head of state.

The insincere, hypocritical and hypocritical policy of the populist regime of Aleksandar Vučić cannot and will not lead to real progress in regional relations and the perception of all the evils of the war policy of the 1990s.

Ultimately, the opposition’s alternative must hit the foundations of such a policy and not reduce criticism to mere corrupt technocratic mechanisms of the regime.

Civil democracies rightly hope that Western democracies will find the issue of human rights, dealing with the criminal past and Vučić’s politics, which is a generator of instability in the region, in reports assessing the deplorable situation in present-day Serbia , chained by progressive omnipotence.
