The Minister for Labor, Employment, Social Affairs and Veterans, Darija Kisić Tepavčević, stated that she would demonstrate the safety of the coronavirus vaccine by being among the first to receive it.

Today, Darija Kisić Tepavčević, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and epidemiologist Predrag Kon should be the first in Serbia to receive the vaccine from the company “Pfizer”.

As she said, she will get vaccinated before all of them to give her opinion on how effective and safe the vaccine is.

“I want to give a personal example,” said the minister.

During a guest appearance on Serbian radio and television, Kisić Tepevačević said that she was proud that Serbia managed to get the vaccine among the first in the world, “as we said was our intention”.

Speaking about the start of vaccination in gerontology centers, which should start today in Belgrade and Novi Sad and tomorrow in Nis, he said that the decision was not made “ad hoc”.

“That decision was not taken ad hoc, there is a coordinating body that deals exclusively with this issue. In relation to the World Health Organization (WHO) and other relevant health organizations, we have made criteria,” he added.

He stressed that doctors have passed the training and are prepared to vaccinate citizens with a vaccine that, he said, proved to be safe and did not cause serious negative reactions.

“The vaccine in our country is great news. It is something that can be a light at the end of the tunnel in an epidemic,” he said.
