NOVI SAD – The High Court of Novi Sad today ordered the detention for up to 30 days of the orthopedic specialist of the Vojvodina Clinical Center, Igor Elez, suspected of taking bribes, as well as ZS who is suspected of mediating in the delivery of bribes.
They were placed in preventive detention due to the danger that they would influence the witnesses, as well as that they could repeat the crime in a short time.
Elez’s defense attorney, attorney Ivan Gvozdenac, told Tanjug that he would file an appeal against the decision ordering the arrest, but did not want to elaborate on this case, because the investigation is ongoing.
Previously, Elez and Ž. S. defended himself at the accusation hearing by keeping silent, that is, he made use of the right not to present his defense.
Dr. Elez is in charge of taking a total of 4,200 euros from three patients for surgery, in addition to the waiting list.
It is suspected that he took 1,500 euros for two operations, while he requested and took 1,200 euros for the third, the Interior Ministry announced this Saturday.
Ž.S. (60) is suspected of mediating the delivery of a 1,500 euro bribe.
In this case, the police filed criminal charges with the prosecution in the ordinary procedure against jo ?? three persons, one of whom is a police officer, suspected of bribery or bribery mediation.
