“Mostly heavy patients, we received as much as we could, then we turned up with patients in extra beds. In intensive care, all places are full, 15 ventilators in full operation. As patients stabilize, we redistribute, so we go in in the afternoon and evening with about 10 percent of empty capacities, “said Stevanović.

He added that the situation changes from hour to hour, that too many patients arrive and that the situation is extremely difficult and uncertain.

Does it comply with the prescribed measures?

Stevanović also said that a third of those who are positive for the crown require hospital treatment, and that then it is clear what the burden is.

He pointed out that all categories are in danger, but that there is a special problem with young people, who sometimes do not want to accept that they may also be sick.

“This is a situation in which no one can protect us, except ourselves, by applying protective measures: to reduce contact, washing hands, wearing a mask, keeping distance. All of this means less likely to get sick and come to the hospital.” . Stevanović said, after the meeting of the director of the covid hospital with the Minister of Health Zlatibor Lončar.

Stevanović also said that parents should not leave their children in the care of their grandparents, even if they have a cold.

When asked what to do with children, Stevanović pointed out that it is a disease that has symptoms similar to all infections.

Aside from the loss of the sense of smell and taste, there are no reliable indicators of the disease, he added.

“The most reliable indicator is the existence of contact and a risk event. The fact is that children have the easiest clinical picture. That means that even if they have a cold, they should not be left in the care of their grandparents, even if they do not present symptoms, “Stevanovic said.
