The mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, said today that for now a curfew will not be introduced in the capital due to the coronavirus epidemic, but did not rule out the possibility of adopting that measure in the next period.

He recalled that the controls for the application of the measures prescribed for the fight against the crown have been reinforced and specified that during the previous day 170 inspections were carried out in restaurants and shops.

He indicated that on that occasion the inspectors of the city’s Ministry of Inspection Affairs drew up three offense orders and that the Republic Sanitary Inspection sent two orders to the offense judge.

There are around 2,500 catering establishments in Belgrade, and according to the mayor, 90 percent of their owners adhere to the measures, but there are still those who do not respect them, so, he adds, controls have been strengthened in the days previous.

According to the mayor, the change announced in the Law for the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases will allow other services to be included in the controls and to issue orders for absences on the spot, but he also pointed out that the essence is not in the punishment because most citizens respect the measures.

“The objective is to recognize those arrogant people who do not respect them, to punish them and thus increase the health security of all people. I hope that within two weeks we will have a new law and can implement new decisions on the ground, ”said Radojicic.

He said he expects there to be fewer new coronavirus infections after the weekend, and specified that according to the latest data, there are 684 new patients in Belgrade.

Asked if there will be tougher measures, he said that he still insists on strict respect for those already introduced, because that, he added, allows the epidemic to be controlled.

“We are looking forward to the next Crisis Staff Republic, where epidemiologists will present their views and a decision will be made accordingly. My view is that curfew will not be introduced yet, but I’m not sure there isn’t. need for such a measure in the future, “he added. is Radojicic.
