He said that the reforms to the Law for the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases will allow stricter control of the measures and that the capital will receive between 400 and 500 new people, who will participate in the control.

Vesić emphasized for RTS that it is important that the economy continues to function.

He said the city of Belgrade insists on changing legal regulations to allow a greater number of perpetrators to control the observance of epidemiological measures.

“According to the current law, only the sanitary inspectors of the Ministry of Health can do that, and there are 140 of them on the territory of the whole of Serbia, and they are not enough to control the compliance of the measure. The amended law will allow the police officers and communal inspectors – 500 new people who will be able to participate in the control, ”Vesić told RTS.

He emphasized that the city insists that existing measures be respected first, and then new measures are considered, but warned that several catering companies violate the measures and host parties after 11pm.

Vesić assessed that it is necessary that those who organize parties and celebrations after 11pm are responsible for that.

“I think it is time for prosecutors to consider whether someone is violating the criminal law. There is a crime in the criminal code, which says that whoever intentionally infects other people, and the party organizer does so, can be held criminally liable. The children who come to them are not responsible. Celebration, but those who advertise it on social media and earn money from it, “said Vesić.

He added that it is time for that one percent of catering service providers to finally answer for such actions and not punish the 99 percent of catering service providers who work hard and abide by the measures.

“It is important that these measures are implemented to the end. I am sure that the amendment of the law will allow a tighter control of the measures and the economy to function, while at the same time protecting the population from infectious diseases,” said Vesić .

When asked if the working hours of the catering facilities or kindergartens will be shortened, Vesić said that it will not and said that we must learn to live with this situation.

“One situation was in March when we faced this virus for the first time, and now we have eight months of experience and the economy must work,” Vesić said, emphasizing that tourists are slowly returning, showing that the hotel’s capacity is full in 50 percent. and about 70 percent.

He also pointed out that 40,000 people work in the hotel industry, and reiterated that the measures must be respected and those who organize celebrations must be severely punished, but that the economy must be enabled.

“Because if the economy does not work, there will be no possibility to buy new protective equipment and we will not be able to pay the doctors,” Vesić said, emphasizing that if the economy does not work, we will not be able to survive.

He cited Germany as an example, where, as he said, no one stopped the economy.

“Tourists have started to return and the service sector is recovering. We have economic growth and industrial production, we have the smallest decline in Europe and that is why it is important to continue this trend, President Vučić, the government and the government are implementing. from the city of Belgrade “. “Vesić said.
