The Military Gymnasium Boarding School has had the function of hosting students since 1973. After 45 years of using the facilities of the Military Gymnasium Boarding School, in 2018, the Ministry of Welfare invested significant funds for its complete reconstruction for the first time.
The funds were used to accommodate students from the Military Gymnasium and the Military Vocational Secondary School to improve and raise the housing capacities and living and working conditions of the youngest members of the defense system to the highest level. Students from the Military Gymnasium and the Military Vocational High School, who are housed in a boarding school on Humska Street, today, without a doubt, live in much better conditions than their peers from previous generations.
The infrastructure works at the Military Gymnasium boarding school are part of the Ministry of Defense’s systematic investment in raising the quality of military education so that military high school students are educated according to the highest world standards.
In the boarding school of the Military Gymnasium and the Military Professional Secondary School, more than 10,000 square meters of accommodation and office space were renovated in detail, that is, 130 rooms for students on six levels with a total accommodation capacity of 516 beds. The student rooms are equipped with modern furniture and inventory, allowing students to achieve better results during school.
In addition, the students’ bathrooms, the common areas equipped with modern furniture, the visiting room, as well as the entrance to the hall of the boarding school have been renovated in detail with the school’s coat of arms painted on a ceramic background. The constant work on improving the nutrition function also influenced the remodeling of the pension’s restaurant, which improved the technical-technological and nutritional aspect of the nutrition function.
Inside the library of the Military Gymnasium, which has textbooks and a collection with more than 11,000 titles, there is a modern reading room equipped with computers in which students prepare for teaching duties. On the first day of this school year, the most modern aerial shooting range in Serbia was opened at the boarding school. For this, the latest equipment was purchased, including SIUS electronic targeting systems, as well as Walther air rifles and Hammarly pistols.
The visits of the top state leaders tell us about the importance of secondary military education and the new attitude towards the youngest members of the defense system, which attests that those who are the future of the defense system are taken into account in all aspects of his life and work. The renewal of the Military Baccalaureate Internship is part of a broader work carried out in the Military Academy of the Defense University with the aim of raising the quality of life and working conditions of cadets and students, which can be considered a kind of investment in the defense capabilities of our country.
