Israel tried to thwart Russia and Syria’s plans!

For the second time in two weeks, a plane flying from Iran to Syria carrying aid landed at the Russian Hmeijmim air base in southwest Latakia.

According to a Latakia report, the Syrian cargo plane traveled from the Iranian capital to the Hmeijmim air base, where it then landed without fear of an Israeli warplane bombarding its positions.

A source in Damascus, the capital of Syria, told Al-Masdar News that the reason for landing at the Hmeijmim airbase was to avoid air strikes, which previously targeted the Damascus International Airport.

Israel has made no secret of its ability to monitor all of Iran’s movements in Syria, as it has repeatedly attacked forces of the Islamic Republic and its paramilitary allies across the Levantine nation, and some attacks have even targeted neighboring Iraq.

For Syria, these deliveries are incredibly important, especially when it comes to military supplies and humanitarian aid. It is not clear what Israel’s plan will be if these flights continue, because in the past they had problems with Russia during their air strikes near the Hmeijmim air base. On September 17, 2018, an Israeli F-16 used a Russian reconnaissance aircraft to evade a Syrian anti-aircraft missile; This caused the accident of a Russian plane and the death of several soldiers.

In response to this incident, on October 1, 2018, the Russian Defense Ministry delivered its S-300 air defense system to Syria.

While Israel opposed handing over the S-300 system to Syria, Russia’s Defense Ministry said it surrendered to the Syrian armed forces to prevent future incidents such as September 17, 2018.
