IS SERBIA NEVER A COLD WINTER? Chubrilo on the warning of foreign meteorologists

Marko Cubrilo, a geography professor and meteorology lover from Novi Sad, whose forecasts are read in all the countries of the former Yugoslavia, revealed that the winter will definitely be different from the previous one, but his colleague dramatized the situation a bit more.

– When it comes to the seasonal forecast of the American private forecasting house “accuweather”, it should be read “between” the lines. In other words, this forecast house for our part of Europe foresees, above all, a very active winter in terms of rainfall, especially in its second part. Frequent movement of cyclones is expected through the Mediterranean, Iberian and Apennine peninsulas to our part of Europe – says Čubrilo for “Blic”.

If the assumptions are true, the winter will be different, mainly due to rainfall, for which a warning was issued.

– If that forecast comes true, we should expect a significantly different winter than last year with frequent rainfall, which could be very abundant at times, which is why this weather house issued a warning of a possible flood over our part of Europe.

However, as he said, there is no reason to panic, because according to him, Aquaveter often uses dramatic terms in their forecasts, which, he explained, are a normal and common occurrence for our conditions.

– However, there is no need to panic, the terminology used in English often sounds much more dramatic than it is, so when “life threatening” phenomena are mentioned, everything includes stronger winds, heavy snow , heavy rain, severe frosts. … A large part of these phenomena is common in our country during winter and in itself does not imply any great danger, but certainly in these situations precautions must be taken – he says.

His advice to all of us is to prepare for a colder winter, with more precipitation.

– We need to prepare for a precipitation, much richer, winter than the previous one, and if it is cold enough there will be a lot of snow, but there is no room for panic, because all possible extreme events do not have to be above Serbia, and will be announced on time by the forecasting service – said Chubrilo.
