The investigation at the crash site of the Air Force “Mig 21” plane in the village of Brasina near Mali Zvornik, where two Serbian army pilots, Dejan Krsnik and Zvonko Vasiljevic, lost their lives on Friday morning, was completed and all parts of the accident were transferred to the Air Force. “Moma Stanojlović” in Batajnica.
The pieces of the destroyed “moment” will be subjected to detailed analysis in the coming days, so that the military commissions that are working to shed light on the tragedy can find the exact cause of the plane crash.
A device was also found to record the operating parameters of the aircraft at the scene of the accident. The tape on which changes in engine and assembly work were recorded is expected to help explain the plane’s last moments in the air, where the key to the tragedy in which Major Krsnik and Captain Vasiljevic were killed is hidden.
The catapult of the crew, who tried to lift the plane, which was sinking to the ground, at the height until the last moment, is not fully explained either. According to the rules of aviation, the decision to leave the plane is made by the commander of the plane. The construction of the two-seater “Migs 21” is such that in the event of catapulting both pilots get off the plane at the same time.
This device, unlike the “black box” of other types of aircraft, records only the parameters of the aircraft, not the pilot’s conversation.
In accordance with the procedure, all the data of the investigation will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office, which will decide on the case and possible future actions.
The prosecutor of the Sabac Superior Prosecutor’s Office, Zoran Obradović, also confirmed to “Novosti” that the investigation at the scene of the plane crash has been completed. According to him, the deputy prosecutor, who conducted the investigation, with the assistance of the military and other experts, ordered the autopsy of the bodies of the dead pilots.
A deep crater at the bottom of the field, just a few dozen meters from the Tanaskovic family home in Brasina, testified Sunday at the scene of the tragedy about the force of the impact of “Miga 21” on the ground. The plane, after sinking to the ground, caught fire and then, with a strong detonation that disturbed the inhabitants of this area, exploded.
Most of the remains were removed from the field next to Tanaskovic’s home on Sunday. Locals say trucks carried away the plane’s wreckage for hours. Only small remains remained, buried in the clay.
According to “Novosti”, the injured Vitomir Tanaskovic’s condition is stable, although his life was in danger. He suffered severe burns to his head, chest and extremities. At the time of the plane crash, he was picking nuts on the property. Apparently he realized that the plane was going to crash not far from his house, so at the last moment he told his wife to go down to the basement. Somehow he managed to avoid the worst.
According to his son-in-law, Miroslav Tomic, his experience in the war helped him assess this situation. Vitomir worked as a policeman in Belgrade, but also participated in combat missions throughout the country. After retiring, he returned to his hometown.
Condolences, not consolation
Zvonko’s neighbors, friends, relatives and colleagues constantly come to Vasiljevic’s house in Donja Borina. They express their condolences and speak of the dead pilot as a man and a giant of our aviation. No one has words of comfort for his parents and his brother, Zvonko’s wife and children, who are in Belgrade.
The locals from Donja Borina and Brasina note that they were proud of Zvonko. Everyone knew and loved him, since childhood. He was a child and a young man as an example in everything.
– We were proud of him, because he was a good man, officer and pilot. Here, fate wanted to end his honorable life here, among us, say the inhabitants of the village near Gučevo.
Burial date
The place and date of the funeral of drivers Dejan Krsnik and Zvonko Vasiljevic will be announced later. The last farewell, as usual, will be preceded by a commemoration at the Air Force Command.
