Serbia is entering the third wave of the corona virus and, according to national experts, it will be the longest of all and, as predicted, will last until March, perhaps even April.
According to calculations, the first wave lasted from March to the end of May, the second from the beginning of June to mid-September, while the third will last up to five months.
Epidemiologist Dr. Sonja Novak says the third wave was definitely surprising and came earlier, because it was expected to start sometime in November.
– Cold weather has started, people now spend more time indoors, which means that under such circumstances, the virus spreads rapidly. This type of climate affects the virus, so it is very important to note that it is necessary to ventilate the premises and respect the protection measures. No matter how tired you are of hearing advice for wearing masks, trust me, it’s very important. On the other hand, I do not see any reason to hold rallies indoors if it is not necessary, why meet indoors if we are fighting the virus. This wave is expected to last until April and its intensity will depend exclusively on people’s behavior. I don’t know what the problem is and why it is so difficult to respect the measurements and keep the distance – says Dr. Novak.
As Dr. Novak explains, a study in Germany showed that it was it is very important to ventilate the premises, and during this period it is advisable to keep the windows open and ventilated as much as possible.
– As it sounds, ventilating the premises is necessary and important at times when we are fighting the virus. In the end it all comes down to measurements, we need masks, the glory period is coming, so there is no meeting, please refrain from that, respect the advice of the profession for both yourself and the community at large. What is noticeable at this time, young people up to 40 years are the most infected, they are in circulation. They tolerate it well, but we wonder to whom this virus can be transmitted beyond family, friends and all those with whom they are in contact, in a word, each of us must behave responsibly in the next period, that is the key – explains Dr. Novak.
Tiodorovic: the problem is winter
Epidemiologist and member of the Crisis Team for the control of Covid-19 infection prof. Dr. Branislav Tiodorović was the first to claim that the third wave of the virus had started. As the epidemiologist explained, the winter months, snow, humidity, and people indoors – all this affects the spread of infection.
– It is currently colder, but we will have more warm days in October. People should take advantage of the Miholj summer and spend as much time outdoors as possible. In November, December, January, February, then it will be cold and people will stay inside. I call on all labor organizations to raise caution to the highest level – said Professor Tiodorović.
Measurements must be respected
The third wave will definitely last longer than the first two, and whether it will be more difficult depends solely on people’s behavior. At the moment, young people between 20 and 40 years old are the most infected, but that does not mean that they will not transmit the virus to their elderly relatives.
Professor Petar Kočović agrees that we are in the third wave, however, according to his mathematical calculations, the third wave of the crown began on September 14. And the numbers show that the peak, that is, the main blow, could be expected in the first days of November.
How is prof. Kocovic presented on Facebook, in four or five days, Serbia could enter the red zone from the yellow, that is, instead of the current twenty people infected, there are at least 50 percent more per 100,000 inhabitants.
The whole region in red
The corona virus continues to spread in the countries of the Balkan region, thus it is becoming a new European hotspot with a record number of infected people in several countries.
In Croatia, according to the last section, there was an increase in the number of newly infected patients in 24 hours: 793 and 10 deceased patients. There are 439 patients in the hospital, of which 26 are on respirators.
Slovenia follows, where there was also a record number of recently infected people: 745. In 24 hours, a record number of infected people (386) was recorded in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while 10 deaths were reported in the Federation alone .
In the Republika Srpska, the corona virus was confirmed in 181 people, while two people died.
In the last cross-section in Romania, 4,013 new cases of infection were registered, according to which that country is the holder of the absolute record in our region. At the same time, 73 people died.
819 new cases were confirmed in Bulgaria and 950 in Hungary, while 29 patients died. In North Macedonia, 445 new cases were confirmed and in Montenegro another 193 infected people and four deaths were recorded.
