In the last 24 hours, 62 new cases of coronavirus were registered in Serbia, as well as three deaths. In total, there have been a total of 10,176 positive viruses and 218 deaths in our country so far.
As of yesterday, 5,012 people have been evaluated, of which 62 are positive, and since the beginning of the epidemic in Serbia, 145,604 citizens have been evaluated.
So far, 1,123 patients have been hospitalized and 29 patients are on a ventilator.
A total of 3,220 patients were cured, while the mortality rate was 2.14 percent.
At the regular press conference, epidemiologist Dr. Predrag Kon said that Serb citizens returning to the country will likely have to have a PCR test, no longer than 72 days, and if they do not have it, they should be isolated. When it comes to foreign citizens, they must be quarantined or. isolation with health supervision. These are decisions that have not yet been taken in tomorrow’s session of the crisis headquarters, he added.
– The epidemiological situation is still uncertain because we still have an occasional increase somewhere, but also other indicators that show instability. Caution is necessary and, on the other hand, we see that people have relaxed a little, which worries us. We need to come back to life and we must take action. Older people still have to take care of themselves, and young people have to take care of themselves. There should be no deaths in June – Kon noted.
The epidemiologist explained that the return to life on April 27 is something that probably not one of the citizens expected, and that the number of contacts is increasing to facilitate the measures that experts recommend.
– For now, the bishops and theaters are still closed, so there is still a long way to go before returning to normal. We are still under emergency measures within the epidemic, and those measures will be adequate for our assessment while the virus is in circulation, Kon said.
When it comes to schools, no special measures have yet been prescribed for schools. They will be general measures of more frequent hand washing, personal hygiene, and nothing else will be taken into account because it will be difficult to carry out any physical distance in the classrooms, explained Dr. Kon.
Let us remind you, the director of the Infectious Disease Clinic of the Serbian Clinical Center, Goran Stevanović, stated today that the end of the coronavirus epidemic is near and that we have entered a phase called the beginning of the end, but it is too early to say when it will be.
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said yesterday that during the next tenth week of the health crisis, deaths from the COVID-19 disease are expected to stop happening.
Despite announcements that employees of preschool institutions with chronic illnesses will be able to work from home during the first phase of the kindergarten opening to protect themselves from the coronavirus, this did not happen.
The World Health Organization dismissed as “false accusations” allegations that, due to pressure from China, it did not release information about the new corona virus in time.
