BELGRADE – The director of the Serbian Clinical Center (KCS), Milika Ashanin, said today that the trend of increasing examinations in covid clinics in Belgrade has increased by 60 percent, that patients arrive constantly and that the system is overloaded.

Ashanin told RTS that the results of the “Black Friday” trade in the malls will be seen in two weeks.

“Patients are constantly arriving, waiting for a bed to be emptied. The situation both in the city and in healthcare facilities is tense. In recent weeks, the trend at kovid clinics in Belgrade has increased by 60 percent We had about 3,500 in kovid clinics during the day, and now there are 6,200, “said Ashanin.

He said four KCS clinics are in kovid mode and everything seems to be expanding capabilities.

“Every patient who requires hospital treatment receives a bed. Three infectious clinics are in the covid system. Two days ago we managed to expand the intensive care capacity with ten beds and ten respirators in the Thoracic Surgery Clinic. In less than two hours, we fill those beds, “Ashanin said.

He adds that admission to triage clinics has been blocked. “We examined about 400 patients in the Infectious Diseases Clinic for days, a hundred overnight. Among them are those who may not have even passed the kovid clinic. All those who have symptoms should go to the kovid clinic. processing, to be diagnosed and then sent to the reception and triage centers, otherwise we will have delays, “said Ashanin.

At the moment, it is said, 280 KCS doctors treat patients with kovid, as well as about 580 nurses.

“Together with the Military Medical Academy, we are the only invisible health institution. We accept all patients, emergency and chronic patients. We had to reduce it, but we do it according to plan. We leave a certain number of appointments at the Polyclinic so that citizens can still be examined. ” “We have 10,000 appointments for the first exams. Right now, with great efforts, we are still managing to meet the needs of citizens quite well,” Ashanin said.

He points out that it is important that a hospital in Batajnica is opened soon, which will organizationally belong to KCS.

“There will be a lot of beds in intensive and semi-intensive care units. We have announced a contest for 252 doctors or specialists, about 400 have applied and we have announced a contest for 100 nurses and technicians, and about 300 have applied.” Ashanin concluded.
