However, unlike in the summer, when we had huge queues in front of kovid dispensaries across the country, as well as holes full of kovid patients in hospitals, we now have a completely different situation, which confuses many. Dr. Mirsad Đerlek, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Health, explains “Hello!” what has changed in just a few months.

– A large number of currently infected or sick people are between 20 and 40 years old and are asymptomatic or with a milder clinical picture. And that is the answer to why there are fewer hospitalized patients and fewer ventilator patients, although the number of new infections is even higher than in July, as indicated by data from Wednesday, when there were 512 new infections. So it is a younger population that is more resistant and has stronger immunity, and they develop a milder clinical picture – explains “Hello!” Dr. Djerlek.

He stresses that the virus has not weakened, which can be seen by what is happening in the region.

– We hope that the figure of 512 new infected is not the maximum that we will reach. We’d like to make a mistake and not let that happen, but it’s realistic to expect that to happen, says Dr. Djerlek.

Our interlocutor also affirms that at the moment there is no thought of restricting the movement of citizens due to the increase in infected. korona virusom. However, he notes that if the epidemiological situation drastically worsens, it will certainly be considered.

– Everything depends on us. Either we will give up comfort and save many lives, including the state and the economy, or we will pay a heavy price if we behave irresponsibly. That group of irresponsible people, which is not large, can cause enormous harm to everyone. At the moment, no movement restrictions are being considered, but no one in Serbia can now answer what will happen in a week, two, three or more. If the health security of the population and the state is in danger, it is certainly possible to think about the measure of restricting movement, but not at this time, affirms our interlocutor and asks everyone to respect epidemiological measures.

– The only salvation is that we are all in this together. Those who are currently violating the measures must understand that they are working against themselves and that it is time for them to join a large group of people who really contribute to Serbia, despite the large number of new infected, being almost the best in the region and Europe – says Dr. Djerlek.

KBC Zemun: We work according to the normal regime

KBC Zemun, which was turned into a covid hospital during the previous waves of the epidemic, continues to operate according to the normal regime.
– We are working normally and hope that we will not even switch to kovid mode. Of course, we are awaiting further instructions from the Ministry of Health and will act according to their instructions, but for now all is well, he says “Hello!” Dr. Dragoš Stojanović, Director of KBC Zemun.
