Experts warn every day that citizens should not relax and that measures must be respected precisely to avoid another wave. As the epidemiologist Dr. Zoran Radovanovic, prof. Retired medical school, previously explained for “Blic”, the supposed weakening of the virus is a big mistake.
– The lethality of the virus has not changed, but its ability to transmit without hindrance, for which anti-epidemic measures are responsible – said Dr. Radovanović.
Leskovac overtook Belgrade in the number of newly infected on May 8 and 9. According to data from the Leskovac Institute of Public Health, of the total number of patients, there are 156 confirmed cases in Leskovac, 8 in Grdelica, 15 in Vučje and 133 cases of infection in populated suburban and rural settlements.
The number of patients at the Leskovac “Jura” factory has been mentioned several times so far, where there have been 57 positive findings of employed workers since the start of the epidemic, and there has been a significant increase in the number of cases from May 5.
As already written, a month ago, up to 200 workers on the first shift of this factory refused to enter the factory hallways. They demanded the cessation of production for two weeks, because, as they stated, there are workers infected with the virus.
Previously, the City Institute of Public Health and the City Headquarters for Emergency Situations in Leskovac recommended that factory management stop production or hire a maximum of 50 workers on 5,000 square meters.
As epidemiologist Predrag Kon announced at yesterday’s press conference, 113 patients are currently hospitalized at Leskovac General Hospital, of whom 36 are “Jure” workers.
– 113 people were hospitalized in Leskovac, seven of them await the result, of which 36 are from “Jura” and five are health workers waiting for the second test to return to work – Kon said.
Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović emphasized two days ago that most of the patients at the factory were “fortunately younger.”
Incidentally, patient zero in this city is from the territory of the city of Lekovac. The transmission of the infection came from a makeshift case that came from Italy and was in a business meeting with Patient Zero, they said from the Leskovac Institute of Public Construction. After the first recorded case, 200 self-isolating contacts were placed.
– Daily supervision is carried out in the Gerontology Centers, where there have been no cases of illness between employees and users since the beginning of the epidemic. As a percentage, 46.47 percent of the patients are men, while 53.53 percent are women. The average age of the patients is 46.0 years, and they are in the group of people without disabilities.
There are no ventilator patients
The good news is that there are no patients with a respirator at Kovid Hospital Leskovac, and currently 121 patients are hospitalized there.
– Since the beginning of the epidemic, 46 employees of Leskovac General Hospital with a positive test for coronavirus have been registered in the territory of the city of Leskovac, and 34 employees of the Leskovac Health Center with a positive test for the virus – added the Leskovac Institute of Public Health for “Blic”.
Checkpoints with disinfectants have been established in Leskovac, and all citizens who feel the symptoms of the corona virus should call or go to the Kovid ambulance, at health station 3, which operates 24 hours a day.
