However, some preschoolers have informed moms and dads that they will only accept children whose parents must be physically present at work, not those who work from home. Belgrade kindergartens do not need a “work order”, so everyone who needs them can bring their children to kindergarten. According to Slavko Gak, secretary for education and child protection in Belgrade, last week attendance at kindergartens dropped to around 42 percent, meaning there were about 24,500 children in kindergartens a day.
– At the beginning of November, attendance was around 55%, that is, around 32,500 children – says Gak. – The decrease in the number, of course, was also influenced by the school holidays, and not only by the increase in the number of people suffering from covid in Belgrade.
As of November 4, only children whose parents sent a confirmation that they were not approved to work from home can go to the “Ljubica Vrebalov” kindergarten in Pozarevac, which reduced attendance by about 30 percent. The decision was made because there is an increase in the number of people infected by the corona virus, according to the conclusion of the Emergency Situations Headquarters. The new rule caused anxiety among parents working “illegally” because they were unable to obtain the required confirmation from the employer.
The situation is similar in Nis, and the order of the crisis headquarters of the city that only children whose parents work and have the obligation to be physically present in their companies can go to kindergartens since last Tuesday, provoked great outrage among the residents of Nis. As of yesterday, they are obliged to bring a confirmation that they are in a working relationship and that they cannot work from home, because otherwise their children will not be able to go to daycare, but also to preschool, which is mandatory, and such measure will be in effect until December 1.
TWO THIRD PARTIES ARE SOLD
ACCORDING to data from the Ministry of Education, the current number of positive children in kindergartens is 0.017 percent and 0.838 percent of employees. In November, 34 children, 250 employees and 686 parents of children were infected in kindergartens in Belgrade. According to the Ministry, the average attendance of children in October was 68 percent, and they state that there is no need to survey the capacity.
The Crisis Staff order, which held an extraordinary session in Nis on Monday, states that the primary school “Pcelica” will reduce the number of children in kindergartens and preschool institutions that are under its supervision by dividing them into smaller groups.
– Kindergartens and preschool institutions may only accept children whose parents present a certificate certified by employers that they are employed and that they are not covered by the law that enables work from home or telework – it is written in the order of crisis personnel
No confirmations are needed in Leskovac.
– The only obligation of parents is to bring confirmation from pediatricians that children who have been absent for more than a week are healthy and can remain in kindergarten, said Jasmina Andjelković Đorđević, director of the Leskovac preschool.
