Minister of Finance of Serbia, Sinisa Mali, said today that unemployment in the country is at a historical low of 7.3 percent and explained that the economic measures implemented have contributed to the preservation of jobs and the Serbian economy, despite the difficult conditions caused. by the coronary virus pandemic.

He affirmed that the economy and citizens can trust the state, which has been proven, taking into account that Serbia has allocated around 12.5 percent of GDP (about 5.8 billion euros) in aid to mitigate the consequences of the epidemic.
– This support was key to maintaining full employment and keeping the economy on its feet. We have shown that by conducting economic policy responsibly, we have succeeded in providing the necessary assistance in these difficult times for everyone. Now it is up to companies to continue fighting and developing, and I can only repeat that the State is always there for its citizens – said Mali.

He explains that under conditions where the world economy is falling sharply, Serbia remains at an “enviable good level”, which, it says, provides an incentive for the country to fight even harder and achieve the best possible results.
– Everything that is important for the preservation of jobs. But we are happy with the fact that in the first six months we registered an economy drop of only 0.9 percent, which is an excellent result considering that the economies of the developed world have experienced a double-digit drop – says the Minister.
He points out that it is important to improve the economy around the world, which mostly remembers, depends on the health segment, and with the hope that the coronavirus problem will be overcome soon, the minister expects a rapid recovery and full economic boost from of the next year.
– The most important thing is that we will not have a reduction in salaries and pensions. In October, we will discuss with the International Monetary Fund, among other things, the refinement of the Swiss formula for pensions. And to repeat once again, regardless of the problems in the functioning of the global economy, we will have an increase in minimum wages and pensions in 2021 – Mali concluded.
