Today, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, received two gifts from the inhabitants of Pranjan: a plot of land and a bottle of plum brandy, and the resident of this place near Gornji Milanovac gave the same brandy to the president of that country, Donald Trump.
– I still remember the sound of the plane. I was 14 then and now I’ll be 90 in a few days. We don’t speak the same language, but we quickly understood and became friends, said Radoljub Janković, a resident of Pranjani village, where the Halliard Mission took place 76 years ago. I was 14 at the time.
He said the locals of Pranjan decided to give Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić “a piece of land, destroyed by trenches and drenched in the blood of the peasants.”
He also gave Vučić a bottle of brandy, which he handed to the US ambassador, with a request to deliver it to US President Donald Trump.
Janković said that they treated and encouraged American soldiers with such brandy, and the gift for the president of the United States is his message that the American and Serbian people should be friends.
– I also have a message for Trump. Americans and Serbs must be a friendly people forever – he noted.
Vučić: I’ll give the plot to the locals
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced today that he would hand over the parcel he received as a gift from the locals of Pranjan, for the development of that place and for the benefit of the locals.
– I’ll see how to use that plot for the locals of Pranjan, it’s not for me – said Vučić, answering questions from journalists.
