IF YOU DRINK ANTIBIOTICS, DO NOT EAT THIS FRUIT! Dr. Pelemis warns of the biggest mistakes we make with these drugs

– Antibiotics are not drugs to lower your temperature. There are other drugs for that and antibiotics are drugs exclusively for the treatment of bacterial infections. To know that this is the case, the patient must be examined, to take certain types of laboratory tests at least minimal – explained the infectologist and specialist in clinical pharmacology, Dr. Mijomir Pelemis, while the pediatrician Mirjana Micovic answered the question when children are prescribed antibiotics:

– The blood image is elementary and that famous PCR that is taken together with the leukocytes, is for a quick orientation if we suspect a bacterial infection. However, there is a lack of knowledge among people who think that antibiotics can solve all problems.

Dr. Mićović mentioned that children aged three to four have viral infections, not bacterial in 90% of cases.

– The child’s immune response is good if the child reacts to the conditions of the external environment. This means that it is good for the child to have a fever, because it shows that they have a good immune system that defends itself. Of course, now it’s a big question mark whether you are defending against viruses or bacteria – he noted and added how to distinguish a viral infection from a bacterial one.

– Runny nose, cough, dry cough, laryngitis, weakness, bone pain … these are signs that it is a viral infection.

One of the most common reasons your doctor will prescribe antibiotics is urinary tract infections.

– Urinary tract infections can cause severe inflammation of the kidneys. When someone has frequent urinary tract infections, it is necessary to determine why they have them. It does not matter if someone has a urinary tract inflammation once or has it five times a year, then it is necessary to see a gynecologist or urologist to see where the source of the bacteria is, if it is a congenital urinary tract disorder, a stone kidney, if anything. another that causes bacteria to accumulate in a certain place and then the infections to reappear – said Dr. Pelemis.

He added that antibiotics can be taken even in the first trimester of pregnancy, but not all antibiotics.

This type of medicine is also given for dental problems.

– When someone extracts a tooth, if there is a reason for them to get an infection or their health condition worsens – heart disease, heart defects, etc. where an antibiotic must be given preventively for a day up to 48 hours, it makes sense, it doesn’t make sense any longer, it will create an opportunity for the bacteria to gain as much resistance as possible. The more antibiotics you give the bacteria, the more chance you have of developing immunity quickly. Bacteria become resistant because they change their structure and there are no new antibiotics.

While taking antibiotics, do not eat this fruit.

Doctors also pointed out the mistakes people make when taking medicine.

– Antibiotics do not require a special type of diet, but grapefruit, for example, should not be taken with an antibiotic for better reabsorption of the drug. It is a fruit that interferes with reabsorption, like milk, but you should have yogurt and sour milk, it is like a probiotic – Pelemis pointed out.

It is also a mistake to stop taking antibiotics quickly.

– To see that a drug works, the patient must take it for at least three days, that is the problem – patients take an antibiotic for one or two days, then they are fine and stop. This is a big problem because you develop resistance to bacteria, so the next time you give an antibiotic, it will stop working. It should not be taken for such a short time, it should be taken for at least five days because the effect of antibiotics cannot be seen until three days have passed, the infectologist noted.
