According to a legend believed by all Christians, except the twelve great apostles They knew Jesus and were his first disciples, God chose seventy other apostles to preach the gospel and spread Christianity. One of those “little apostles” was the Holy Apostle Codratus of Athens.

From the life of this saint it can be seen that he was one of the wisest and most learned people of that time. It is written in his fresco that Saint Kodrat “was like a morning star in the middle of a cloud.”

He was bishop first in Athens and then in Magnesia. According to Christian tradition, it was Saint Codratus who wrote the defense of Christianity and gave it to the Emperor Hadrian. Legend has it that this writing left such an impression on the emperor that he ordered that Christians no longer be persecuted unless there was a clear fault on the part of one of them.

However, how much is Sveti Kodrat He was a favorite among Christians, so many pagans did not like him. He was first stoned and then thrown into a dungeon where he was not given food until he starved to death around 130 AD.

Saint Kodrat is considered the protector of scholars. Those who want to receive a part of the wisdom of this holy man on this day should light a candle for him in church and dedicate this prayer to him:

“Apostle Saint Kodrate, pray to the Merciful God to grant forgiveness of sins to our souls.”
