The latest measures in the fight against coronavirus came into force last night in Serbia, catering facilities and shops are open until 9pm and starting tonight, 24 night lines will stop in Belgrade. Its effect is expected, and if that does not happen, new measures that could be introduced are already being considered. Let’s face it, a curfew is not an option.

Professor Dr. Branislav Tiodorović, an epidemiologist and a member of the crisis staff for the fight against the corona virus, told Telegraf.rs that the existing measures take at least a week to take effect, and that the real effect is best seen in 10 to 12 days.

1. Additional reduction in working hours

He says that the situation is monitored every day, that the medical part of the staff constantly analyzes it, and says that if existing measures do not give effect, there is a possibility that new ones will be introduced.

“I am not talking about the curfew here. It is not being considered. But if the number of patients continues to grow, we will have to think about some more measures. What could still be done is to shorten the working hours even more.”

2. Work from home, kindergarten children with certificates that parents must go to work

“In addition, it is not excluded that it is recommended that everyone who can work from home, and that children are not taken to kindergarten, but only go with the confirmation from parents that they have to work.”

3. Distance and certain number of people in transport

“What is a big problem is traffic. In public transport, the number of people who can be in the transport, the distance between the passengers, and they can only sit in marked seats must be strictly respected. All big cities have this problem, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Kragujevac, but that should be valid for all cities, and especially for those companies that have organized the transport of employees ”, explains Prof. Dr. Tiodorović.
