– They will have to arrest us or kill us. We will not flee anywhere, not to Serbia or to Russia.

I ask the Court of Appeals to free us from this political-judicial-mounted process by the prosecutor – said Knezevic.

He announced it yesterday in his closing speech before the panel of judges of the Court of Appeals, which closed the appeals session.

The chairman of the Appeals Court panel, Judge Zoran Smolović, explained that the parties will receive the decision of that court through the Podgorica High Court, and if they decide to overturn the verdict, the parties will receive a subpoena.

Branka Milić was sentenced to three years in prison, Dragan Maksić to one year and nine months, while Srboljub Đorđević and Milan Dušić were sentenced to one year and six months each. Kristina Hristić was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two if she does not repeat the crime.

According to the first instance verdict, the objective of the criminal organization formed by Russian citizens Eduard Shishmakov and Vladimir Popov was to prevent Montenegro from joining NATO. The leaders of the Democratic Front, Andrija Mandić and Milan Knezević, were sentenced to five years in prison each, for belonging to a criminal organization since February 2016.

The organization planned to forcibly occupy the Parliament of Montenegro on the day of the parliamentary elections of October 16, 2016, with the help of the Democratic Front, and kidnap and kill the then Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović.

Shishmakov was sentenced to 15 years in prison and Popov to 12 years for attempted criminal organization and attempted terrorism. Serbian citizen, general and former gendarmerie commander Bratislav Dikić was sentenced to a single sentence of eight years in prison for the crimes of terrorism in an attempt to help and create a criminal organization, while Predrag Bogićević and Nemanja Ristić were sentenced to seven years in prison each for the same crimes.
