The new series “Klan” has already won the hearts of the audience after the first weekend of its presentation on Superstar TV and RTS.
The director of the new story, created from the workshop of the production company “Firefly” and with the support of Telekom Srbija, Slobodan Boban Skerlić tells Kurir that only positive impressions come to him.
– I really don’t know much about the audience reaction. Those who spoke to me personally were, of course, delighted. The only parameter on the audience reaction that I currently have is to see the ratings, and he says that the audience did not let us during the broadcast, on the contrary. And the remote does not lie.
The criminal genre currently dominates in Serbia. How did you decide to do a series about the Zemun clan?
– I don’t think the criminal genre dominates. The crime series, however, cause additional public attention, thus creating an illusion. Hundreds of episodes of soap operas, comedies, rural dramas, historical dramas, sketch comedies are broadcast daily …
I’m a little tired of explaining that this is not a series about the Zemun clan. This series is happening today: it is inspired by certain characters and events in history and the black chronicles, but only to a certain extent. The subsequent dramaturgical construction is completely independent and strives for a truth that is completely independent and far more valuable than the reconstruction of the past.
Everything is there: the kidnapping and murder of Stambolic, the murder of Vuk Draskovic in Budva, the murder of Arkan, the wedding of the century in Zitoradja, but today he settled in Serbia. Why?
– You have the freedom to create free associations. Our intention was not to make a riddle, and especially not a reconstruction of the events, but to face the circumstances that allow organized crime to survive. That is why the store is placed in modernity, as a warning.
In the series “Klan”, the main roles are played by almost unknown actors. Why didn’t you shoot safely by choosing, for example, Miloš Biković, Vuk Kostić, Marko Janketić?
– I shot safely choosing the actors who will best respond to the tasks that the series proposes to us. The known / unknown was by no means a criterion. And the mentioned actors, wonderful people and artists, by the way, were not a division for the main roles for generations.
In the movie “To the Bone”, you gave Nikola Đurička and Nebojša Glogovac a chance. Will the trajectory of Aleksandar Dimitrijević and Nedim Nezirović, who play Šoka and Pasha, be similar? What does your directive instinct tell you?
– I sincerely hope that one day he can pretend to be important and “steal my credit” for his success. However, acting work is extremely thankless, often talent is not a sufficient precondition.
You plan to shoot two more seasons. What is the idea of the sequel? Does history take over from a French?
– Well, you really have to be patient for that. But this question of yours shows very well that you yourself are aware that the series has a life of its own regardless of the reconstruction of history and the black chronicles. Otherwise, you would already know, right?
About the theater
Everything I would do does not fit in two lives
What are your plans for the theater? “Pumpkins” is still playing successfully … What new would you like to make?
– Everything I would like to do cannot happen in two more lives. But first we have to wait for the theater to return to itself and to the audience. And for that, it is necessary that the breath becomes harmless. So, vaccination as soon as possible, if you like the theater.
