A boy MT (14) from Mokrin was found dead Saturday night in a bathtub filled with water in the bathroom of the family home. Although the ambulance team tried to resuscitate him for more than an hour, the boy was not saved. The investigation will determine the cause of the tragedy, and it is suspected that the boy was poisoned by the fumes from the gas boiler.
Resuscitation
Father Slavko Tucakov tells Kurir that his son went to the bathroom on the fateful night around 8.15pm and that he otherwise liked to take a long bath.
– I used to go to bed because we had a pig slaughter that morning. Anyway, still frozen from sleep, my eldest son Branislav woke me up. It was strange to him that the younger brother did not answer his calls from the bathroom. In front of the bathroom door, he warned his younger brother that the broadcast of the handball match would start soon, but no one answered. My oldest son woke me up a little before 9pm and told me something strange was going on. There was a commotion … I found a terrible sight in the bathroom. The son was submerged in a tub filled with water. What can I tell you … I took him out of the tub and tried to revive him with artificial respiration. We called an ambulance. They arrived in about fifteen minutes. They resuscitated him for a long time, an hour, but without success – said Tucakov and added:
– This is an unimaginable tragedy. God forbid.
He says he does not know the cause of the accident.
Loved sports
– Our gas boiler is about fifteen, maybe 20 years old. Our fireplace is in good shape. I don’t know, maybe the wind, which was blowing hard, brought carbon monoxide. He bathed for a long time. Hot water, steam … I don’t know … – said the unhappy father, pointing to the basket on the garage:
– I often played basketball here. He loved sports and coached tennis at a local village club. He was an athlete and, by constitution, looked a few years older, Tucakov said, barely holding back his tears.
As Slavko’s friends and co-workers arrived to express their condolences to him and his wife Bosiljka and their eldest son, a neighbor confirmed to us that MT was a boy and an athlete for example:
– When I wasn’t in school or coaching tennis, I played basketball here. He was a student in the last grade of the primary school “Vasa Stajić”, and he celebrated his 14th birthday on October 27, he said.
As we learned, there are no injuries on the boy’s body, and after investigation, the body was sent for an autopsy to Novi Sad.

Slavko injured in gas explosion
A neighbor of the injured family said the boy’s father, Slavko Tucakov, was injured on the job in a gas explosion in Novi Kozarci, near Kikinda, in mid-September last year. Slavko and another young man from Kikinda were injured in an accident while working online:
“Slavko suffered first and second degree burns to the area of his face, arms and legs,” he recalled. The gas leak and explosion later occurred during works on the Sutjeska Street gas network.
