Gendarmerie divers found the body of Bački Petrovo Selo, seven-year-old Orchid T., who disappeared in the Tisza on Sunday afternoon. The lifeless body was found in the vicinity of where he fell from the boat the day before, while he was in the river with his one-year-old younger brother.
The police conducted an investigation and the competent prosecutor’s office was informed about the discovery of the body. The body will be transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Novi Sad.
On Sunday, two children left the house unnoticed through a window and cycled to a river several kilometers away to swim. There they played and then, about 200 meters from the beach, they got on moored fishing boats. According to the six-year-old boy after the disappearance of her sister, the girl fell from the boat around 2 in the afternoon and disappeared under the water.
When Orchid T. did not appear on the surface, his brother ran into town, scared and annoyed. On the way, as “Novosti” writes, he ran into a neighbor and told him what had happened, and the man immediately reported it to the police. The gendarmerie divers immediately set out in search of the boy.

The mother of the seven-year-old girl, who has three more children, allegedly told police that the children left the house without her knowing and that she had been looking for them in the village since the morning, but not he had found them nowhere. Later, she says through tears, she learned that her daughter had disappeared at the Tisza.
– I was hoping you found my daughter alive. The son says that they were sitting in two red boats near the shore and that the Orchid jumped. However, it is strange that no one saw it. It happened on Sunday around 1:30 pm When I got to the Tisza, my son was crying terribly. Unfortunately, at that time there was no one in the part of the Tisza where it was pointed out that swimming is dangerous – says the crying mother Reveneta T. (30) and adds that his daughter came to the Tisza by bicycle.
– The son jumped out the window, they went together to the Tisza, the daughter led him. They came out around 10, and I headed to the playground to look for them. I looked for them until 1:30 p.m., the only thing that was not in the Tisza. When I got home, a man came to tell me that my daughter had disappeared. Then we went to the Tisza and there I found a dress, slippers and a T-shirt – Reveneta told Novosti and claimed that Orchid had run away from home several times before.
– She left because I didn’t let her go to the playground alone. I learned that I was not at school on Thursday, but at Tisza. I have five children, three daughters and two boys. The orchid is the oldest and the youngest is three months old. I live alone with them, my husband works in Germany. Orchid’s father died two years ago – says the inconsolable mother.
Locals say that this is not the first drowning event in the Tisza and that a boy drowned a few years ago when he fell from a boat. They add that the water along the shore is a shallow one and a half meters, but is six to 15 meters deep in the middle.
