The epidemiological situation in Novi Sad is very serious, Mayor Miloš Vučević said today, who does not rule out the introduction of an emergency situation in that city.
Saying that the number of newly infected people in that city “does not give peace”, Vučević said he was aware that there would be criticism if an emergency situation was introduced.
– Certainly there would be criticism. Even if the weather was harder, it would be for the bars to close, because Novi Sad punished its businessmen. I am aware of that. My job is to protect the health of citizens according to the instructions of epidemiologists, but also to protect the economy of the city. There is no unlimited money. We will see what will be the decision of the crisis personnel – said Vučević for TV Prva.
Again he called on citizens to respect the measures and decisions of the State, in order to avoid more radical restrictions that would have a negative impact on the economy.
According to him, in the last period, around 250 new daily cases were registered in Novi Sad, which is the highest since the beginning of the epidemic.
He added that the newly infected are middle-aged and younger, which means that they are the most socially active, but it is good that retirees and children who respect the measures the most are protected.
He stated that it will not happen that the Novi Sad Fair will become a kovid hospital, but that it will be done in 24 hours if necessary.
