I ask those gathered in front of the Assembly to disperse and that the SNS deputies STOP THE HUNGER STRIKE

– Starting today, by decision of the Electoral Commission of the Republic, our country continues the electoral campaign and the elections of June 21 are an opportunity for all people to express their will – said the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, in tonight’s speech to the public.

– For us, today in conditions in which we have not ended the coronavirus epidemic, although the situation is better than a couple of weeks ago, it is inadmissible to expose our citizens to danger to health and that is why I want to say something which may seem strange to some. A meeting is held a few hundred meters from here; 5,790 supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party, 65 supporters of the Dveri movement. I would ask these people not to meet until at least the end of May. I know that the organizer is not the SNS, but some organization or association, but I ask you to disperse. I love those people very much, and I know that the behavior of the municipal boards, which invited people to come, was not responsible

Vučić noted that he was pleased that the teacher. Miladin Sevarlic ended his hunger strike.

– He is a brave, serious, elderly man, it is good that the strike has stopped. And he started attacking due to a brutal lie and a fake media, Vučić said, adding that he spoke to SNS deputies and begged them to end the hunger strike.

– They did not move, they did not sleep, it lasts 35 hours, which is not easy at all. Although I object to his strike, I understand his reasons and sincere intentions. Sandra Božić is a single mother of two children, please come back to them. I will try to convince Martinovic to end the hunger strike, although I know it will be extremely difficult. With all gratitude for the courage and bravery, I beg you to give up. Martinovic, as one of the most educated MPs in recent terms, knows very well that even when he says there is no pressure on the prosecution, it is a certain type of pressure, and we should not do that, Vucic said.

“Violence will achieve nothing in Serbian politics, those times are over”

When it comes to the hunger strike of opposition MPs Boško Obradović, Vučić said:

– I called conversations countless times and they said you can’t talk to me and that you don’t need to. They repeated that dozens of times, I invited them to come to the talks on Monday when there were other representatives of the opposition parties, and I did so publicly at the press conference, Vučić said.

He added that they did not want him, Vučić, to be able, nor does it occur to him, to agree to speak with blackmail and threats.

– I never accepted that and when they struck near the Presidency, I was not afraid, I am not interested. Violence will achieve nothing in Serbian politics, those times are over – said Vučić.

As he said, the President strongly condemned the violence in front of the Assembly and the brutal attack against Marijan Risticevic.

Vučić expressed the hope that no one would use violence and said that the state would react.

“I will not interfere in the work of the Office of the Prosecutor”

When asked how he comments on the cartoons portraying him as Adof Hitler, Vučić says that publishing such cartoons speaks volumes about democracy in our country.

“It doesn’t always make sense, but what to do,” said Vučić.

Responding to the question of whether he expects the Prosecutor’s Office to react to the violence we had the opportunity to see in front of the Serbian Parliament building, when the leader of Dveri, Boško Obradović, attacked Marijan Risticević, Vučić replied:

– I will not interfere in the decision of the Prosecutor’s Office, what we saw was pure unadulterated violence. They will work, they will decide in one way or another. It is your job.
