Vladan Grahovac (27), an icon painter from Raska, said this in his closing statements yesterday in the High Court of Nis, accused of killing his former neighbor Jelica Tatarovski (82) in her apartment in Nis on September 1, 2019 with 26 stabs. wounds.
Like a little rape
In court, Grahovac reiterated once again that he was on opiates at the time of the crime and did not know what he was doing.
“I was raped as a child, which affected my subsequent behavior,” said the defendant, while his lawyer Jelena Arsić asked that he be declared insane, and sentenced to prison in a psychiatric institution.
On the other hand, the prosecutor asked the court to sentence Grahovac to a maximum of 40 years in prison.
– There are no extenuating circumstances. Everything indicates that he planned a raid on the apartment and a brutal murder. And just out of greed. The severe suffering suffered by the murdered woman, the amount of injuries and the intensity of the suffering indicate her cruelty – said the prosecutor:
– He knew how to act in front of her when she called and how she would open the door for him. The fact that he was in and out of the apartment, that he took out the evidence, only shows that he planned everything, even the purchased ticket to Belgrade, to go to the rented apartment, which he also planned.
Let us remind you, the crime occurred on September 1, 2019, when the defendant arrived at the victim’s apartment on Zoran Djindjic Boulevard, where she lived alone. The old woman opened the door because she knew Grahovac.

Grahovac: I heard voices: “Pig, kill yourself”
Vladan Grahovac explained yesterday why, on February 12, after the hearing ended, he attempted suicide after leaving the courtroom by jumping from the handrail in the courtroom.
– When the forensic expert read the findings on Jelica’s injuries in detail, I was upset. I am not that kind of person. I heard voices: “Murderer, pig, kill yourself!” I saw the only salvation in suicide – he said. The guards prevented him from jumping and then took him to a mental hospital.
