The only parameter on the basis of which it can be concluded whether a person has seasonal flu or corona virus is a laboratory test, said today the deputy director of the Institute “Trampoline”, Darija Kisić Tepavčević.

At the press conference, Kisić pointed out that there are no specific symptoms that can be said with certainty to be the flu or the corona virus.

He adds that both the seasonal flu and the corona virus have similar symptoms, and that the diagnosis could be made after an examination and a lung scan, but that the correct way to differentiate them is a laboratory test.

When asked whether flu and coronavirus vaccines, when allowed, could be given at the same time, Kisić said it depends on whether it is a live vaccine or not.

He added that the flu vaccine, which is used on the European continent, is not alive, like no other coronavirus vaccine discovered so far, and that they could be administered at the same time.

For live vaccines, he explains, it is necessary to pass the interval in the presentation of four weeks.

When asked about diet and the use of vitamins in the next period, to protect us from the virus, Kisić said that there is no solid evidence that diet can protect us from the virus, but added that a healthy lifestyle affects the general resistance of the body.

It will only help, he says, that the infected person can fight the infection more easily.

The epidemiologist Predrag Kon added that in addition to a healthy diet, sleeping well is also important to increase the general resistance of the organism, it is good to use vitamin D from vitamins and zinc and selenium from trace elements.

“It is to increase the overall resistance of the body, however, we know that diet cannot prevent infection, only a vaccine,” concluded Kon.
